Twenty Years Ago

I did a thing recently. I set another goal. It’s vague, ranging from doable to impossible. I signed up for the Livestrong Challenge. I committed, for now, to the 5k walk. I can do that in the power chair if necessary. I can do it with a walker, or trekking poles. I can upgrade to the 10k if I’m really good. I can upgrade to the 20 mile bike ride if I’m insanely good., or the 100 mile ride to achieve the impossible. I realize this isn’t related to my strokes even though they are central to the goal.

It’s been a little over twenty years since Spencer was diagnosed with leukemia. This Fall will be the twentieth Austin Challenge since he and I rode in 2004.

I’m walking (or riding) this for all the cancer survivors from the day they are diagnosed for the rest of their lives.
