I am committed to finishing a rough draft by the end of June. I will update Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with current word count and minimal progress notes.
The first five chapters are about my progress from growing a brain tumor, getting it removed, having strokes, getting diagnosed over 2-½ months, and eight months of inpatient rehab. My notes are a disorganized mess so I am going back and editing prior chapters, a habit I intend to stop.
Here are the numbers as of today:
| Chapter | Draft | Word Count |
| 1 | 1 | 2752 |
| 2 | 1 | 3637 |
| 3 | 1a | 2506 |
| 4 | 1b | 4925 |
| 5 | – | 1369 |
| total | 15,189 |
I feel good about progress. It is word vomit, disorganized, poorly worded, bad grammar, repetitious garbage. That is exactly what it should be. Fixing those issues is reserved for the editing phase in July.
